Steel structures under vibration, such as bridges, crane runways, towers, masts and railway structures, are bolted with preloaded HV sets to EN 14399. HEICO-LOCK® HLK-Washers replace the standard EN 14399-6 washers in these sets and add wedge-lock security against self-loosening.
HV bolts have a larger radius under the head, so the HLK-Washer bore is chamfered: the teeth bite fully into the head without touching the radius. The double chamfer also means the washer cannot be fitted the wrong way round.
HLK-Washers are an approved construction product with a certificate of conformity, approved by the German building authority DIBt (Z-14.4-702) and by the German railway authority EBA. They can be used in connection categories A to E of EN 1993-1-8, including slip-resistant connections, and are zinc flake coated for long corrosion protection.
Assembly follows the standard two-step HV procedure (EN 1090-2): first a pre-tightening torque on all bolts, then the full tightening torque. Fitting instructions come with every delivery.
