HEICO-LOCK® Reaction Washers

Bolts of M24 (1″) and above need so much torque that electric, pneumatic or hydraulic torque tools are used. Normally the tool reacts against a reaction arm braced on a neighbouring nut or part, which is a real safety risk: crushed fingers, a slipping tool, damaged coatings and bent parts.

HEICO-LOCK® Reaction Washers remove the reaction arm. The lower washer has a gear-shaped outer contour. A HEICO dual socket grips this contour with its outer part while the inner socket turns the nut or bolt head, so the tool reacts against the washer itself. Torque goes in purely axially, with no bending moment on the bolt, and one technician can do the job.

After tightening, the pair works as a normal HEICO-LOCK® wedge lock washer and protects the joint against self-loosening from vibration and dynamic loads. The pairs are pre-glued, and the low scatter of friction gives accurate preload.

For through-bolts, fit a HEICO-ONE® Safety Washer on the passive side so the nut does not turn and no second person or counter-holding wrench is needed. We can supply matching dual sockets with adapters for common torque-tool brands.
