Overview
The standard Nord-Lock washer for general steel applications. Made from through-hardened steel EN 1.7182 and coated with a Delta Protekt® KL100 zinc flake basecoat and a VH 302 GZ top coat, giving at least 1,000 hours in the ISO 9227 salt spray test.
NL is the regular washer. NLsp has an enlarged outer diameter for large or slotted holes and soft surfaces. Laser marking: flZn.

Tolerances. Øi: ±0.1 mm (NL3–NL8sp), ±0.2 mm (NL3/8″–NL42), +0.5/−0 mm (NL45–NL130). Øo: ±0.2 mm (NL3–NL1″sp), ±0.3 mm (NL27–NL42), +0/−2.0 mm (NL45–NL130). T: ±0.25 mm (NL3–NL42), ±0.75 mm (NL45–NL130). Steel washers NL3–NL52 with zinc flake coating are standard stock items.
Black-coated option
Standard steel washers in sizes M6 to M24 are also available with a black coating, for machines and visible joints where a dark finish is wanted.
Torque guidelines: electro-zinc-plated bolt, grade 8.8
Indicative values verified by Nord-Lock in test laboratories, calculated with the Kellerman & Klein formula. GF = preload as % of bolt yield point. µth = thread friction, µh = under-head friction. Cu/C paste = copper/graphite paste (Molykote® 1000); oil = WD-40. Conditions and joint designs vary: ask us for a calculation for your joint. 1 Nm = 0.738 ft-lb.
