Overview
A rivet nut (insert nut) gives a strong, reusable thread in sheet metal, tube or plastic that is too thin to tap. It is fitted from one side with a hand or pneumatic tool. The thin reduced head sits almost flush with the panel. The half-hex body sits in a hex hole and resists spinning under torque.
The closed end seals the thread against water, dust and paint, and protects parts behind the panel. Available from M4 to M12 with grip ranges from 0.5 mm to 8.5 mm. Each part number covers a set range of sheet thickness and has its own overall length (L), shown in the table.
